Electrical Engineer

The Fitch Company, a Maine based corporation, specializes in electrical and controls engineering services and design, build control systems. We provide electrical and control engineering services for various industries such as pulp and paper, power & energy, and food & beverage.

The Fitch Company is currently seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer to work in our fast-paced consulting firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for design, development, and implementation of project work. Ability to support development of project costs and estimation of equipment needs for complete electrical and controls scope of work in industrial environments. Requires a BSEE, BSEET, or BSCE degree. Work is both independent and collaborative with facility project managers, staff, and contractors. May assume a team lead role for the work group as opportunity and skill level allows.

Duties Include:

• Perform duties related to electrical engineering and controls systems in industrial settings.
• Conduct site reviews as needed for feasibility studies and design projects.
• Assist in the development of plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Work both independently and collaboratively with facility project managers, staff, and contractors.
• Field work and testing as required.
• Review and understand client standards and requirements.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time, within time and budget given.

Requirements
Qualified candidates should possess the following:

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering.
• We are open to candidates with 0 – 5+ years’ experience.
• Professional Licensure or on track to obtain.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively in various industrial and office environments.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial and controls design.
• Must be able to lift and handle objects up to 40 pounds on occasion.
• Must be able to walk on uneven, rough surfaces, walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
• Must have the ability to use fine motor skills to type, use a mouse and write for the duration of a workday.
• Ability to travel within Maine and out of state.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Electrical Drafter

The Fitch Company has an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Drafter. This in office position location is flexible, with the option of Bangor, Gray or Rumford, ME locations. We are willing to train the right candidate that may not have any drafting experience but has the drive and willingness to learn how to utilize CAD software and the basics of electrical drafting. A strong ability to communicate with others and work in a team environment is a must. This position requires an individual to work on multiple projects at the same time, and time management will be key to their success.

Duties Include:

• Utilize computer aided drafting, design software and various other computer software packages in the preparation of electrical drawings.
• Translate sketches and markups into properly documented drawings (including schematics, wiring diagrams, AC & DC single line diagrams, arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, and bill of materials).
• Direction will be in the form of verbal and written instructions, marked prints, and sketches.
• Coordinate drawing development to meet project schedules.
• Identifies errors, problems, or non-standard situations and suggests alternatives.
• Document control management tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred but will train the right candidate.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Detail oriented with strong listening and communication skills.
• The ability to work in a team environment or independently.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
• Must be open to occasional overnight travel should a need arise.
• Must have valid drivers license
• Must successfully complete drug screening and background check, including 7-year criminal history check and Motor Vehicle Record check

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit (or work at a sit/stand station) for 90% of the work day.
• Must be able to use a mouse and keyboard
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pound paper rolls to load into wide format plotter
