Retrofits
A Leader in Outdated Systems Mitigation
The retrofitting process involves repurposing, revamping, recycling, and revitalizing existing systems to enhance, renew, or expand functionalities and optimize client operations. Our proficiency contributes to modernizing outdated elements, resulting in decreased operational expenses and improved efficiency
When old systems become maintenance intensive with high failure rates, it is time to upgrade. New controllers and computer-based systems are highly reliable with diagnostics for faster and easier troubleshooting. Our clients count on us for our ability to replace outdated control systems with Programmable Logic Controllers or Distributed Control Systems.
If you are building a new process or plant, The Fitch Company provides valuable support and deliverables to ensure your electrical system and control system design / configuration meets or exceeds today’s standards while remaining cost effective and easily maintainable. Everyone at The Fitch Company prides themselves on providing on demand application specific support after commissioning whether your system was a retrofit or a greenfield installation.
Control Systems
Comprehensive Control Systems Expertise Sustainable Solutions with Environmental Compliance
As a full-service electrical and controls engineering company, our electrical design capabilities cover all levels of typical plant power systems. This complements our extensive knowledge of control system signal level designs (125vdc, 120vac, 24vdc, 4-20ma, etc.).
If you are contemplating an upgrade or jumping into the PLC or DCS world for the first time, we can help. Contact us today to start the conversation.
We have implemented numerous Balance of Plant (BOP) control systems in new and existing facilities. Our ability to provide a flexible BOP system that can communicate to multiple third-party systems has proven to be a tremendous benefit to the end user. The resulting common operator displays for the entire plant provide ease of plant operation while allowing the operator to make well-educated production decisions.
The Fitch Company has designed, manufactured, and configured numerous compressed natural gas (CNG), and liquified natural gas (LNG) control systems for locations in the United States and Canada. This includes service and remote support for all installed systems. The control platforms used include Emerson Control wave, Emerson RX3i and Allen Bradley CompactLogix with Wonderware Intouch, System Platform or FTView SE. Our installations include indoor and outdoor classified and unclassified environments. The Fitch Company has also had substantial experience in design of plant electrical power systems in LNG plants.
Our extensive experience in plant-wide control system installations and replacements extend to greenfield plants and retrofit applications in existing plants. In retrofit applications we identify and label existing field terminations to the current control system. Prior to the outage, every field device gets tagged with a list of current issues identified to allow plant maintenance adequate time to correct. These projects are executed using multiple DCS and PLC supplier systems with preference dictated by the customer. Our team is able to design, configure, fabricate, test, ship, and commission these systems for your application at your facility. Samples of our larger plant-wide control systems have been for biomass boilers, recovery boilers, biofuel facilities, and food production facilities.
Many industrial facilities are dealing with old legacy Burner Management Systems (BMS). Recent Natural Gas availability, clean burning technology, and cost-effectiveness have led many plants to convert from various oil fuels to dual oil-gas fuels or solely to natural gas. We have the expertise needed to replace your obsolete control system for upgrade to today’s safety and control standards. In addition, we can provide the BMS for your new burner application. Our familiarity with NFPA 85, NFPA 86 and research on corporate, local, state and city codes will ensure that your system meets all necessary standards.
